Talk Radio at the Broadview Heights
Spotlights
The Broadview Heights Spotlights will
present Eric Bogosian’s Talk Radio. Set in the 1980s, the play shows a
behind-the-scenes look at the life of Barry Champlain, a fictitious
Cleveland-area talk show host known for his vulgar and controversial banter, on
the eve of his radio show’s national syndication. The play premiered off-Broadway in 1987 and
was adapted into a movie directed by Oliver Stone in 1988.
The show runs September 16 through October
1. Friday and
Saturday performances begin at 7:30PM; a Sunday matinee on September 25 begins at
3:00PM. All shows will be at the Broadview Heights Cultural Arts
Building, 9543 Broadview Road in Broadview Heights (next to the police
station).
The Spotlights’ show is directed by Rose
Leininger and features Keith Kornajcik as Champlain. Also appearing onstage are Bob Newton, Chaunice
Hendking, Dave Hopkins, Matt Dodels, Kayleigh Joyce, Brett Heidinger, and Stuart
Hoffman.
The cast also includes several voiceover actors lending their talents to
portray the more than 30 guest callers including Matt Dodels, Rocky Encalada, Jordan
Flemming, Chaunice Hindking, Susan Jeromson, Jenna Messina, and Chuck Perry III.
Tickets are $13 for adults and $12
for seniors and students. The play contains adult themes and language and
is not recommended for children under the age of 16. Tickets may be purchased on-line at www.broadview-heights-spotlights.org.
