Based on Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the workers that the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the phone operator, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, and the housewife, just to name a few. Nominated for six Tony Awards in 1978, this classic has been updated for a modern age, featuring songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, James Taylor, Micki Grant, and more.
Auditions will be held by appointment on Sunday, December 3 from 2:00PM – 5:00PM. and Monday, December 4 from 6:00PM – 9:00PM. Auditioners (ages 16 and up) should sign up for an audition slot here.
No Equity contracts are available for this show. Invited callbacks, if necessary, may be scheduled. Rehearsals will begin the week of January 7, 2024. The show runs February 23 – March 3, 2024.
The show contains mature themes and language. Please be familiar with the material before auditioning.
The show will be directed and music directed by Ryan Bergeron.
Those auditioning should:
- Plan to attend only one day of auditions.
- Be familiar with the show and its music, language, and themes.
- Prepare two one-minute, contrasting songs (one up-tempo, one ballad) in the style of the show (contemporary musical theater).
- Bring sheet music in the correct keys, hole-punched in a three-ring binder. Singers will not be permitted to sing a cappella.
- Featured roles exist for actors who do not consider themselves singers, however all cast members will sing in ensemble numbers and all performers should be comfortable doing so. If you wish to be considered for one of these roles, you may prepare one short (1-minute) song of your choosing and plan to read from the script at auditions.
- Bring a list of conflicts between January 7 – March 3, 2024.
