Good Afternoon!
Edgar Allan Poe is
coming to a stage near you!!!
Playmakers proudly presents Nightfall with Edgar Allan
Poe, a play by local playwright Eric Coble. We are extremely excited
to partner with Ensemble Theatre in Cleveland Heights to bring this show to
life.
This will be a different style of show, blackbox, than we
have done in the past. Traditionally, our actors have performed on a
large stage. This is a smaller set: only 60 chairs per show. Using
a smaller space at Ensemble means actors are only a few feet from the
audience. This is the first time Playmakers has taken on this challenge
and we are very excited to present this show in November. If you are
interested in the appropriately creepy fall stories of Edgar Allan Poe or in
seeing a different type of theatre than you may typically experience, please
join us!
When: November 8 (7pm) and November 11 (2pm and 7pm)
Ticket Price: $10
Show description: Edgar Allan Poe stands alone in the
flickering darkness of his mind, trying desperately to convince himself -- and
us -- that he's not mad. The spell he weaves brings us a highly theatrical
adaptation of four tales Poe himself considered his best: "The Raven,"
"The Fall of the House of Usher," "The Pit and the
Pendulum," and "The Tell-Tale Heart." Enter the world of Poe and
check your heartbeat at the door.
NOTE: Edgar Allan Poe was a fantastic writer and invaluable
to the world of literature. However, he did trend towards darker subject
matters, including mortality. This show may not be appropriate for
younger audiences.
See you at the show!
