Seeking an African American actress (18-35) to play the role of Elizabeth in the Department of Theater at Case Western Reserve University production of In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play by Sarah Ruhl. The play will be directed by CWRU faculty member David Vegh.
The play is set in Victorian-era New York during the dawn of electricity. Elizabeth becomes a wet nurse to the protagonist, Mrs. Givings, after she loses her own baby in childbirth. While a supporting role, the part is emotionally challenging and has several stand-out moments in the show.
Rehearsals begin October 9th and will be Monday-Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. The show opens November 10 for two weekends, with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm and Sunday matinees at 3pm. The show closes Sunday November 19.
There are no Equity contracts for this performance. However, there is a small honorarium for guest professional performers (non-students) and on-campus parking will be provided.
To submit, please email a headshot and resume, along with any scheduling conflicts based on the dates above, to David Vegh at
dmv36@case.edu. Individual actors will be selected and contacted to set up an audition time.
