WHO

CAN Academy programming is open to the public, and non-Cleveland residents are welcome to apply, however Cleveland Public Theatre has a priority to engage Cleveland residents.

Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Enrollment is capped at 14 young artists.

 

WHAT

Join us for Actors Workshop: A Magical Place Returns, an in-person after-school program that provides theatre training from an imaginative perspective. Youth will explore acting fundamentals, storytelling methods, collaborative creation, devising techniques, and critical thinking while workshopping a script written during Fall ’21 session. Students will build skill through vocal and physical training and ensemble building while continuing work to refine A Magical Place. The session culminates in an in-person workshop performance of the piece for the young artists’ family and friends. CAN Academy performing arts activities improve academic skills, instill empathy and responsibility, build character, and enhance creative thinking.

This program is offered at NO COST thanks to the Cleveland Foundation. All classes are in person on site at Cleveland Public Theatre. Young artists must be masked and follow our health and safety protocols.
