Hi all - I have a new sketch class and a late night submission packet workshop coming up beginning of July if you or anyone you know may be interested - both online:
In this 8-week course you will learn:
-Proper script formatting
-Ways to generate ideas
-Tips on the writing process
-How to confidently pitch
-Writing/revising sketches
-Practical experience in a (virtual) writers room setting
At the end of the 8-week course you will have 4-5 finished sketches. This class is for both experienced comedians and people just starting out - as long as you have a desire to write your own material, you are welcome. You will be required to write outside of class.
This four week workshop will consist of weekly virtual table reads and pitch meetings via Zoom. Each week we will focus on a different aspect of a late night submission packet.
Week 1 - Topical monologue jokes
-1-2 pages of topical news and pop culture jokes
Week 2 - Refillable late night desk bits
-Example: Jokes Seth Can’t Tell, Conan Desk Driving
Week 3 - Viral content ideas
-Example: Carpool Karaoke
Week 4 - Topical sketch
-Example: SNL Debate sketches

Michael Busch is a Cleveland native who has over fifteen years of professional experience in the Los Angeles comedy scene and entertainment industry as an actor, writer, director, and producer. To learn more about his work, please visit

Michael Busch is a graduate of IO’s improv training program and studied improv and sketch at The Upright Citizens Brigade with founders Matt Besser and Matt Walsh, among others.
Experience
Michael Busch has acted in sketches on Human Giant, Key & Peele, and Conan; written sketches and digital series for FunnyorDie, Comedy Central, AwesomenessTV, Break, and Maker Studios; was a member of multiple house improv (Harold) teams at IO West and UCBTLA, a writer/performer on a house sketch (Maude) team at UCBTLA, and has also written/directed/produced/acted in various other shows there.
