“Almost, Maine” is a smooth, easy-to-watch production. The director has a first-rate cast. When you’re tired of the cold, snowy Akron evenings, get out for a cold, snowy Maine night.” THE WEST SIDE LEADER - http://www.akron.com/editions/Akron-Ohio-News-2019-January-24/Weathervane_staging_Almost_Maine.asp?aID=39873

“They’re all quirky stories, always with a twist, which director Deb Lemire and her cast of 17 approach with an often delicious playfulness.” – THE  AKRON BEACON JOURNAL - https://www.ohio.com/news/20190128/quirky-romance-warms-hearts-in-snowy-almost-maine-at-weathervane

“Weathervane Playhouse to present John Cariani’s romantic comedy, ALMOST, MAINE!

“Spend a midwinter’s eve under magical northern lights for this romantic comedy.”

AKRON- Welcome to Almost, Maine. An almost town in a place far north, where the coldest midwinter night makes nine loosely connected vignettes all the more heartwarming.

Beginning January 17th, Weathervane’s Founders Theater will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland for John Cariani’s renowned romantic comedy hailed by The New York Times, The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal to name just a few. Running through February 3rd, Almost, Maine is a show that will make you laugh, cry, and bask in the joyfulness and diversity of love under the northern lights.

Show times: Thursday – Saturday, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, 2:30 p.m. Tickets range from $10 (for children) to $22. Standard ticketing fees apply.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 330-836-2626 or going to www.weathervaneplayhouse.com.

About the show: On a cold, clear night in the middle of winter, all is not as it seems in this remote, mythical place called Almost, Maine. In a series of nine sweet and soulful vignettes, residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected, often hilarious, and sometimes heartbreaking ways. The New York Post said Almost, Maine is “Thornton Wilder crossed with ‘The Twilight Zone’…it’s poignant, witty, and nearly perfect.”

The director’s take: Director Deb Lemire said that when people ask her what the show is about, the short answer is love, which is not always so simple. “Love is so many things. It’s friendships that catch fire, it’s forgiveness and letting go, it’s joyful, infuriating, fierce, erotic, messy, weird, terrifying, giddy, exhausting, agonizing, wondrous, surprising, and opens your heart in ways you never thought possible. Is it even worth it? Almost, Maine helps us come to understand that yes, yes it is.”

Almost, Maine is presented through special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service.
