CVLT's comedy ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID starts down the aisle on May 29

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio - If you've ever elbowed a stranger out of the way to catch a bride's bouquet, seriously questioned the mental stability of the duo saying "I do" or been forced to wear the world's ugliest bridesmaid dress, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's deliriously funny ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID is definitely for you. The play opens its four-weekend run on the main stage at 40 River Street starting May 29, with the message that careers, waistlines, and even marriages may disappear, but real friendships last a lifetime.

In this hilarious comedic romp, four Southern women have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their Senior Prom: to be in each other's weddings at any cost. More than thirty years later, these friends-for-life are still determined to honor that vow. Libby Ruth (Helen Graf) is the hopeful romantic with the perfect marriage who believes that her friends can find the very same happiness. Headstrong Deedra (Mary Mahoney) has found her rock-solid marriage cracking due to her husband's wandering eye and hands to match. Monette (Evie Koh) is flashy, high-spirited, and self-involved, continually testing her friends' love and patience with all-too-frequent trips down the aisle. And salt-of-the-earth Charlie (Jenny Barrett) wonders if marital bliss is not really what she wants, panicking when the opportunity presents itself. The wisdom and love of the four friends is shared with Libby Ruth's daughter, Kari (Macey Staninger), who is about to be wed at the reception hall managed by the energetic Sedalia (Grace Mannarino).

CVLT audiences have enjoyed the work of Jones/Hope/Wooten before, giving standing ovations to the theatre's award-winning production of The Dixie Swim Club in 2010. The writing team has a remarkable resume; Jessie Jones co-authored the play which became the star-laden 2001 film Kingdom Come, Nicholas Hope has received applause for several award winning plays and television episodes, and Jamie Wooten spent many years as writer/producer for The Golden Girls. Like Dixie Swim Club, this new CVLT production is directed by Barbara L. Rhoades, who brings with her over 25 years of directorial experience and accolades to bear on this charming and funny script.

ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID plays at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, May 29 - June 19. CVLT is located at 40 River Street in historic Chagrin Falls. Tickets are $18 regular, $14 students/seniors. Call the Box Office 1-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday at 440-247-8955, or order them online at www.CVLT.org.
