Film: By Any Means
Description: A smart, but easily influenced boy with dreams of escaping the inner city is peer pressured into committing robbery to attain money for college.
Length: 6-8 minutes
Characters:
Jackson (17-19-year-old, African American, male)
As the protagonist, Jackson is ambitious, determined and ready for a change of life and escape from his current environment.
Cairo (17-19-year-old, African American, male)
Cairo is Jackson’s outspoken and boisterous best friend. He is complacent with his current lifestyle and pressures Jackson to commit the robbery.
Mr. Tate (40-70+, male)
Mr. Tate is the victim of the robbery. He is a cranky recluse and mystery to the neighborhood but is rumored to have $100,000 inside his home. A back injury caused him to walk hunched over.
Donovan (40-60-year-old, African American, male)
Donovan is Jackson’s father. He is an honest, hardworking man trying to make a way for his family, but the stress of money continuously hovers over him and his marriage.
Sherry (40-60-year-old, African American, woman)
Sherry is Jackson’s mother and Donovan’s wife. She’s growing tired of their financial struggles and is starting to voice her concerns.

Target Rehearsal Dates: 2/21 and 2/23; 5:30-8:00pm.
