Info

Limbo is a new comedy/drama from local playwright, actor, and voiceover artist Agnes Herrmann. It captures a “random” meeting between two women on a commuter train, one delayed by mechanical issues and eventually spiraling into a candid, revealing exchange. “It’s a catharsis when you set out to write something about your mother and it turns into something completely different, disconcerting, and ultimately more profound,” Agnes Herrmann says. “I was fascinated with the idea of unexpected consequences arising from a seemingly chance encounter.” Playwrights Local is proud to present this new, locally written play in partnership with Radio on the Lake Theatre. And we are pleased to offer it as an audio recording for free streaming and download at PL Radio, PodBean, and other sites. “Since the play takes place in a public place, having an audio-only performance actually heightens the tension,” the playwright notes. Check out Limbo at PL Radio, and look for additional new plays by Faye Sholiton, Mike Geither, and others in the coming weeks!

Synopsis

Tess has recently lost her mother; Susan lives with her own mother, who has crippling arthritis. They meet on a commuter train heading home, after a blown transformer cuts the power out. Tess gets claustrophobic in the dark. Susan becomes a chatterbox. The atmosphere grows stifling. The two think they have nothing in common...but do they? In Limbo, the statement “your truth is my truth” becomes a reality that neither Tess nor Susan can deny.
