Trial By Fire, written by Eric Mansfield
Trial By Fire, an original drama
written
by award-winning playwright Eric Mansfield, will enjoy a public reading at the Akron-Summit County Public Library auditorium
July 6 at 6:30 p.m. This will be the first public performance of the script, which follows a young woman of color in Ohio who is put on trial for allowing banned books to be used by her students.
The Summit County Library system is supporting
and programming the event as the debate over banned books has become a growing issue across the country. Francine Parr is directing the performance with actors from the Millennial Theatre Project bringing
the play to life.
The event is free, and there will be a short talkback following the staged reading.
