Reading/audition on Saturday, June 10 @ 3p or Monday, June 12 @ 7p
at convergence-continuum's Liminis Theater,
2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland (in the historic Tremont neighborhood)
Convergence-continuum is seeking an actor and two actresses for Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins' NEIGHBORS, directed by Terrence Spivey.
NEIGHBORS is a wildly theatrical, explosive, provocative play about race. It is an unconventional comedy which uses minstrelsy both to explore the history of black theatre and to confront tensions in a supposedly "post-racial" America. A riotously funny satire with totally serious social commentary.
Available roles:
JEAN: white female, mother, to play late 30's, early 40’s.
MELODY: Jean's bi-racial daughter, to play 15-16. (Actor must be 18 or older.)
SAMBO CROW: black teenage male, minstrel actor, new neighbor to Jean & Melody
You wll be reading from the script during rehearsal; this will serve as your audition. Please bring a headshot and resume with you and RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND. Enter through the porch door on Brevier Rd, right behind the theater.
