The Man of Steel sings! Where? In his 1966 Broadway show featuring a playful Charles Strouse-Lee Adams (Bye Bye Birdie) score including "You've Got Possibilities," and a wisecracking script by Robert Benton and David Newman, who later penned the first Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve. In this version, our super-hero has his hands full defending Metropolis against all evildoers -- most notably Dr. Abner Sedgwick, a vengeful 10-time Nobel Prize loser obsessed with destroying the world's symbol of goodness. And as usual, Lois Lane is obsessed with the unattainable guy in the red cape. In one number, Strouse & Adams's chorus declares that "in this world of cheap sensations and no foundations...we need him!" Sound familiar?
