Canal Fulton Players announces auditions for 
The Crucible
Dates: Tuesday, April 16, 7 - 9PM
& Wednesday, April 17, 7-9PM
Location: Yoga Central, 4626 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, OH
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Rehearsals are Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30 - 9 PM running through the         months of April and May
Show Dates : May 31, June 1, June 7 & 8
Show Location: Same as Auditions 

Character Descriptions

Roles maybe doubled up or flexible depending on casting needs.

Female Roles

Elizabeth Proctor (late 20’s - 30’s) John Proctor’s loyal wife. Falsely accused of witchcraft.


Betty Parris (10-15) Daughter of the Rev. Parris. At the beginning of the play, she lies in a stupor supposedly caused by witchcraft.


Abigail Williams (late teens – early 20’s) Orphan living with her uncle Rev. Parris. Had a brief affair with John Proctor. A witch hunt hysteria stems from her actions.

 

Mary Warren (late teens – early 20’s) The Proctor’s unassuming house servant. Often bullied by the other girls in the community.

 

Mercy Lewis (late teens – early 20’s) Friend of Abigail who participates in the witchcraft accusations.  

 

Susanna Walcott (late teens – early 20’s) Friend of Abigail who participates in the witchcraft accusations. 

 

Ann Putnam (late 20’s - 40’s) Thomas’s neurotic wife. 

 

Rebecca Nurse (60’s-70s) Charitable Salem resident who is accused of witchcraft.

 

Tituba (African-American, 30’s – 40’s) Barbados slave of the Rev. Parris. She is the first accused of witchcraft.

 

Sarah Good (50’s-60’s) Homeless woman accused of witchcraft.

 

Male Roles

John Proctor (30’s - 40’s) Salem farmer forced to defend his wife and then himself against witchcraft charges. Had a brief affair with Abigail Williams.

 

Rev. Samuel Parris (40’s - 50’s) Salem's current minister. 

 

Thomas Putnam (30’s - 40’s) A wealthy Salem landowner whose child is also displaying symptoms of being bewitched. 

 

Rev. John Hale (30’s - 40’s) A well-educated and fair-minded reverend with a vast knowledge of the occult. 

 

Francis Nurse (60’s-70’s) Rebecca’s husband who advocates his wife’s innocence.  

 

John Danforth (50’s – 60’s) The Deputy Governor and presiding judge over the witchcraft trials. 

 

John Hathorne (40’s-60’s) Associate judge presiding over the witchcraft trials.

 

Giles Corey (50’s-60’s) Innocent citizen arrested after he attempts to defend his wife.

 

Ezekiel Cheever (30’s - 40’s) The upright clerk of the courts in Salem. 

 

John Willard (30’s - 40’s) The town marshal and arresting officer.
