BW Men’s Chorus Accompanist
Department/Division: Conservatory Outreach
Job Summary: The principal accompanist reports to and collaborates with the Chorus Director to accompany a
one-hundred voice male ensemble.

Duties and Responsibilities:
ˇ
Accompany the ensemble on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
during the academic year
ˇ
Accompany all pre-scheduled concerts, workshops and ensemble retreats
(see attached schedule)
ˇ
Lead sectional rehearsals during weekly rehearsals at the request of the Chorus Director
ˇ
Provide mentorship to BW student accompanist assigned to the Chorus
Qualifications:
ˇ
5-10 years of choral accompanying experience; degree in piano performance or collaborative
piano desired, but not required
ˇ
Understanding of and experience working with the male voice
ˇ
High proficiency in reading from an ‘open score’, sight reading TTBB scores and transposition
ˇ
Experience with organ performance preferred, but not required
Salary:
ˇ
Commensurate with experience and comparable with the BW Outreach Faculty accompanist salary schedule

Contact/Audition:
Selected applicants will be invited to audition at Baldwin Wallace University with the Chorus Director.
The audition includes:
ˇ
Sight reading the accompaniment from a piece performed by the Chorus (selected by the Chorus Director)
ˇ
Reading a TTBB medium difficulty piece open score (selected by the Chorus Director)
ˇ
Sight reading the accompaniment to a solo Broadway piece (selected by the Chorus Director)
