BW Men’s Chorus Accompanist

Department/Division:   Conservatory Outreach

Job Summary: The principal accompanist reports to and collaborates with the Chorus Director to accompany a
one-hundred voice male ensemble.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Accompany the ensemble on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
during the academic year

· Accompany all pre-scheduled concerts, workshops and ensemble retreats
(see attached schedule)

· Lead sectional rehearsals during weekly rehearsals at the request of the Chorus Director

· Provide mentorship to BW student accompanist assigned to the Chorus

Qualifications:

· 5-10 years of choral accompanying experience; degree in piano performance or collaborative
piano desired, but not required

· Understanding of and experience working with the male voice

· High proficiency in reading from an ‘open score’, sight reading TTBB scores and transposition

· Experience with organ performance preferred, but not required

Salary:

· Commensurate with experience and comparable with the BW Outreach Faculty accompanist salary schedule

Selected applicants will be invited to audition at Baldwin Wallace University with the Chorus Director.

The audition includes:

· Sight reading the accompaniment from a piece performed by the Chorus (selected by the Chorus Director)

· Reading a TTBB medium difficulty piece open score (selected by the Chorus Director)

· Sight reading the accompaniment to a solo Broadway piece (selected by the Chorus Director)
