Sober Seventeenth St. Patrick’s Day party returns to Avon Lake in 2016 with more music and great fun!

 The Sober Seventeenth St. Patrick's Day Celebration will take place from 5pm until 8pm  on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Ahern's Banquet Center, 726 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, Ohio 44012.

The gala celebration of Ireland’s patron saint features outstanding Irish entertainment headlined by James Kilbane, directly from County Mayo, Ireland. James Kilbane promises a high energy and entertaining night of popular songs from his career and life of Irish ballads, country and folk songs that have influenced his musical career and life.  This will be an uplifting night for all ages with classic after classic Irish and international ballads and songs from start to finish.  James Kilbane is a multi-platinum recording artist and star of stage and screen who came to fame as runner-up in Ireland’s nationally televised “You’re A Star” competition.

The family-friendly event also features Cleveland-based performers including Mary Agnes Kennedy (guitar and vocals) singing traditional Irish ballads; The Brady-Campbell School of Irish Dance; and singer Sydney Lally, a student at Medina High School and finalist in the 2015 Sean Moore Irish Vocals Competition.

Additionally, the St. Ignatius Circus Company will highlight the special activities for the children.

Sober Seventeenth, Inc. reclaims the true spirit of St. Patrick by providing a family-friendly, alcohol free celebration featuring the best of Irish music, dance and heritage for the Irish American and entire northern Ohio community on March 17th each year.

Our St. Patrick’s Day extravaganza attracts families who wish to honor St. Patrick’s Day without exposing their children to binge drinking; people in recovery who benefit by a sober environment for their celebration; residents of halfway-houses who see that there is a better way to live their lives; and people of all nationalities who want to take a day to appreciate Irish culture without the turmoil that is prevalent in so many commercial St. Patrick’s Day celebrations

Sober Seventeenth, Inc. promotes community health and safety, supports people in recovery from drug or alcohol addiction through relapse prevention, reduces binge drinking, provides for healthy family choices, and combats ethnic stereotyping. 

            Admission will be $20 per person or $15 for students and seniors with coffee, tea, and soft drinks provided along with hearty hot hors d'oeuvres.  The Sober Seventeenth St. Patrick's event is a family-friendly, alcohol-free party.  Ahern’s Banquet Center has ample free parking and is convenient to I-90 just north of the Rte 83 – Avon exit.  Tickets can be purchased in advance at http://sober17th.brownpapertickets.com/
