The Play:

This is one funky play. Newly divorced 38-year-old Elizabeth, an urban planner, moves to New York City for a fresh start. She meets her friends Kate, a kindergarten teacher, and Lucas, a community organizer, in Madison Square Park. Kate suggests that Elizabeth start using the name "Liz" and seek out new experiences. Lucas suggests that she go back to her college nickname, "Beth," and start making professional connections in the city. The musical then shows both possibilities playing out. "Liz" stays in the park with Kate while "Beth" leaves with Lucas, and the remainder of the show depicts two paths that Elizabeth's life could take. ("Prologue/What If")

Got it? I bet not. Wonderful music and a confusing if not great book. Be a part of a production that will break convention. 

 

Audition Information:

Auditions will be held on Saturday, November 2, at Lakeland Community College in Building D/The Performing Arts Center from 12NOON to 2:00 PM. NO APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY   

Please: One 32 bar cut in the style of the show. A strong command of musical styles and vocal athleticism is greatly needed for this show. PARK IN THE FACULTY/STAFF PARKING LOT. 

 

You need only come to one of the audition dates. YOU DO NOT NEED AN AUDITION TIME. JUST SHOW UP AT Noon (or whenever) AND WE WILL HAVE YOU SING and then READ.

 

ALL ROLES ARE COMPENSATED.  Sorry, no EQUITY contracts for this show.   

The Roles:   Anne: Kate’s girlfriend. Early 30’s.  Range: C5 – E4.   David: A pediatric surgeon. 30’s. Male.  Range: A#2- G#4.   Elana: A city planner. In her 20’s. Female.  Range: G3-Gb5.   Elizabeth:  Late 30’s. An urban planner, newly returned to New  York City. Female.  Range: A3-G5.   Josh: Mid 30’s. Male. A doctor and Army Reservist.  Range: A#4 – C2   Kate: Early 30’s. Elizabeth’s neighbor, a kindergarten teacher.  Range: F5- A3.   Lucus:  Late 30’s. Elizabeth’s college friend, a community activist.  Male.  Range: Ab4-B2.   Stephen:  Early 40’s. Elizabeth’s grad-school colleague, a city planner. Male.  Range: D4 – D3.   Ensemble:  4-6 individuals (male and female) that will play a multitude of characters and will have much to sing. Mid 20’s to mid 40’s.

Production and Rehearsal Dates:

“If/Then” will open on Friday, January 31, 2020 and run through February 16, 2020. There will be nine (9) shows; that is three (3) weeks of performances. Rehearsals will begin in early December based upon your schedules. At that time you will learn your music. Rehearsals will be regularly scheduled beginning on January 2 and will run Monday thru Sundays according to your schedules.
