Cain Park Announces Auditions for the 2022 Theater Season: 

SCHOOL OF ROCK and SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM, March 3-6, 2022. Auditions will be held at the Cleveland Heights Community Center located at 1 Monticello Blvd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118. AEA contracts are available for both shows. All performers are compensated.

You must bring sheet music in the proper key. No recorded tracks or acapella singing will be accepted. Audition Accompanist provided.

Thursday, March 3rd, 6-10pm - KIDS ONLY (8-12 years) for School of Rock
Friday, March 4th, 6-11pm - 18+ for both shows
Saturday, March 5th, 10am-5pm - 18+ for both shows
Sunday, March 6th, time TBD - Callbacks for both shows

*Please note, kids who cannot attend on Thursday, may be granted special permission to audition on Friday or Saturday.

*Adults: Please prepare two contrasting cuts in the style of the show(s), not to exceed three minutes total. If you are auditioning for Sondheim On Sondheim, one of your audition pieces MUST be Sondheim.

*Kids: Please prepare one short selection to sing in the style of the show or from the show, not to exceed 90 seconds. If auditioning for a role that plays an instrument, please submit a video playing the required instrument in the style of the show, not to exceed three minutes, by Wednesday, March 2nd to cainpark@clvhts.com. 

*Those interested in auditioning but cannot attend to any of the audition dates above, may submit a video audition following the instructions in the audition form provided in the link below.

SCHOOL OF ROCK CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

DEWEY FINN - This role is pre-cast.
ROSALIE MULLINS - 30s. A rock chick imprisoned in the body and life of a stern and correct headmistress. Soprano with a strong belt.
NED SCHNEEBLY - 30’s. Ned was once as keen on rock as Dewey, but failure has beaten him down. He clings to his girlfriend, Patty, as the one sure thing in a sea of regrets. Rock voice.
PATTY - 30s. Patty is a hard woman who knows what she wants, and she doesn’t want Dewey. Not in her life. Not in Ned’s life. Her dislike of Dewey is the strongest thing about her. Strong belt voice.
ADULT ENSEMBLE - 20s-50s, any ethnicity, to play teachers, parents, No Vacancy band members, etc. All should be pop/rock singers who move well and may understudy principal roles.
KIDS - Any Ethnicity, Strong Singers/Movers Age 8-12, Under 5’2”
SUMMER - An overachiever who takes charge, featured singer
TOMIKA - Quiet and shy with a big singing voice waiting to come out, featured singer
ZACK (guitar) - Independent and passionate, must play exceptional rock guitar
FREDDIE (drums) - Down to Earth and full of energy, strong rock drummer
KATIE (bass) - Cool and collected, must play strong rock bass guitar
LAWRENCE (piano / keyboard) - Intellectual, but awkward, must play piano
MARCY- A free spirit, strong singer, backup singer
SHONELLE - Bold and brassy, backup singer
BILLY - Sassy with a flair for fashion
SOPHIE - Enthusiastic and tough
MASON - Technical wiz-hid who loves being part of the team
JAMES - Confident and composed
MADISON - Efficient and effective

SONDHEIM ON SONDHEIM
Rehearsals begin July 11, 2022. The show runs August 4-14, 2022.

Any ethnicity: All performers must be strong actors who are exceptional with harmonies.
Woman 1, 3, 4, and Man 1, 2, 3, 4: These roles are cast from our postponed 2020 production.
Woman 2 - 18-35 mezzo: sings Mary Flynn, Sarah Jane Moore, and others
Four Understudies to cover eight principal tracks.
