Embrace uncertainty using the tools of
improvisation: agreement, spontaneity, listening, and character.
Rediscover the art of play, explore the fun of failure, and
silence the voice of judgment in your head!
Actors will improve their ability to make bold choices, develop
characters on the fly, use their bodies effectively, listen
deeply, and form connections with emotional authenticity.
Students will receive personalized feedback to encourage
development on both a professional and personal level. Open to
adults and teens 16 and older. Previous stage experience is
desirable but not required.
Led by Tracy Cubbal, CVLT's Improv for Actors program began in
2012 and offers classes for students 16 and up. Actors learn
fundamentals of improv, working within the context of the
classic structures of short-form comedic improvisation,
including scenic games, line games, blind games, and musical
games. Ms. Cubbal's students learn to think on their feet and to
deal with the unexpected with poise and humor. Many classes
include an informal final performance for family and friends.
CVLT is generously funded by Cuyahoga County residents through
Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and supported by the Ohio Arts
Council. CVLT is a proud member of the American Association of
Community Theatre and the Ohio Association of Community Theatre.
