Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute is thrilled to present the Northeastern Ohio Premiere of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. Opening on Broadway in 2019, and nominated for three Drama Desk Awards, this "action packed mythical adventure" with its thrilling rock score is the musical adaptation of Rick Riordan's best selling book.  Hailed as "a thoroughly endearing family friendly musical" by Broadway News and NY Daily News announced that "Percy is a Rock Star!" This musical is compelling for fans of the Percy Jackson books and new audiences alike.  As the son of Posiedon, Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can't control, monsters on his trail and is on a quest to find Zeus' stolen lightning bolt in order to prevent a war among the gods. HBTI's production of The Lightning Thief is Co-directed by Bebe Weinberg Katz and Dan Hendrock. With Music Direction by John Krol, Set/Lighting design by T. Paul Lowry and Costume and Props design by Vanessa Cook.

Please prepare a one minute, memorized musical selection, that is character driven and a one minute memorized monologue from a play. Choose pieces from the contemporary musical theatre canon. Please provide your own accompaniment track. Singing ACapella for the audition is acceptable as well. Roles available for students from 6th grade through college.

Please NoteTo be eligible to participate in this production you must attend at least one (1) session of HBTI 2021 Summer Training. There is a production fee associated with the show.
