The Fine Arts Association’s production of

”The Hunchback of Notre Dame”

About the Show:

Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney animated feature, The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the film’s Academy Award-nominated score, as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s book embraces story theatre and features verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel. The musical begins as the bells of Notre Dame sound through the famed cathedral in fifteenth-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be "Out There," observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful gypsy, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the gypsies – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all. A sweeping score and powerful story make The Hunchback of Notre Dame an instant classic. Audiences will be swept away by the magic of this truly unforgettable musical…Music Theatre International.

Callbacks by invitation only: Sunday, March 4, 2018 – 5:00-9:00 pm

Rehearsals begin:

Sunday, April 8, 2018

Rehearsals will generally be Mon-Thu 6:30-9:30 pm & Sun 2:00-5:00 pm

There will be two LONG Sundays (1:30-9:00 pm) the final two weeks.

Performance Dates:

June 8 – 24, 2018

Fridays/Saturdays 7:30 pm; Sundays  2:00 pm

NOTE: There will be a 1:00 senior matinee on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

Requirements & Preparation:

• No appointments needed.  Arrive at 1:00 pm on either of the audition dates
• Open call applicants will be heard in the order of arrival and placed in small groups for

the movement segment of the audition.

• Prepare a vocal ballad solo of 32-64 bars.  Bring sheet music or music track
• Pianist, boom box with Bluetooth and Broadway songbook will be available to

provide support for applicants.

• Prepare either a joke or a short monologue. (Not required if auditioning for the Church Choir)
• Dress for movement for the dance portion of the audition. (Not required if auditioning for the Church Choir)
• Applicants invited to callbacks should be prepared to cold read from the script

and sing from the score.

• Bring a headshot or snapshot of yourself to attach to our paperwork.

Casting Information:

A cast of 30+, men and women between the ages of 16-80

ALL roles are available.

The Fine Arts Association supports non-traditional casting.
