The Olmsted Performing Arts Scholarship Program has been established to provide financial assistance to children ages 18 months to 18 years to further or begin their education of the arts. In alignment with Olmsted Performing Arts’ Mission Statement we seek to provide the technical skills of each craft but to also build character, confidence, relationships, and encourage creative expression. A minimum of 3 scholarships will be provided, 2 need-based and 1 desire-based, each scholarship period. Additional scholarships will be contingent on outside support. The scholarship period is August 31, 2015 – August 13, 2016.
The recipient of the scholarship will receive 1 class in the department of their choice for the fall, spring and summer session. If the recipient chooses to audition for a production and are cast during the scholarship period, their production fee will be waived.
There will be a 3-person selection panel for both the need-based and desire-based scholarships. The selection panel will be comprised of members of the community who have no affiliation with an OPA student, staff, or board member.
Need-based applicants can apply every year. There is no limit to the number of years in a row you can receive the scholarship. Desire-based applicants must wait 2 years to apply again after receiving a scholarship.
