Oberlin College Theater invites you to attend our mainstage production of Ancestra by Holly Holsinger and Chris Szajbert, directed by Anjanette Hall, with choreography by Holly Handman-Lopez, scenic design by Laura Carlson-Tarantowski, lighting design by Jeremy K. Benjamin, and costume design by Chris Flaharty!
SYNOPSIS: Inspired by the 1853 National Women’s Rights Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, Ancestra weaves a historical account of the pioneers for women’s rights with the intimate biography of a contemporary journalism student who writes about reproductive healthcare. The play features historical women that attended Oberlin College including Lucy Stone, Antoinette Brown Blackwell, Lucy Stanton Day Sessions, and Mary Jane Patterson.
