Irish Eyes and Voices Will Shine March 17 at Benefit for Chagrin Valley Little Theatre

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio - The Chagrin Valley Little Theatre presents “When Irish Eyes are Smiling: an Evening with Jake Boland" on March 17.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and contribute to local live theater as tale spinner Jake Boland presents an evening of songs and stories of Ireland and its people.

The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Irish-themed appetizers and a beer and wine cash bar. Boland will perform on stage at 7 p.m., and the bar will be open afterward along with a dessert and coffee bar.

The ticket price is $25 per person. Mr. Boland is presenting the event as a benefit for CVLT, which has just completed the major renovations to its public areas, featuring an expanded lobby, restrooms, and offices. Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Theatre to support these and other planned improvements.

RSVP Improv and “Little Shop of Horrors” will hit CVLT's stages in March

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio  - The River Side Valley Players (RSVP), Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's improvisation troupe, will present “RSVP Marches On” on March 10 and 11 at 8:00 p.m. at CVLT's River Street Playhouse, 56 River St. Previous RSVP performances have been sellouts, so early reservation is recommended.

Led by Tracy Cubbal, the group of improvisational actors performs live, unscripted theater with prompting from the audience. Characters, plot-lines, and dialogue are developed on the spot for spontaneous fun. Due to the unpredictable nature of the performances, the show is recommended for adults. Tickets for this event are $10. RSVP also presents an informal, free performance called "No RSVP Required" on the second Thursday of each month.

Opening March 24 on CVLT's Main Stage will be "Little Shop of Horrors," directed by Greta Rothman with musical direction by David W. Coxe and choreography by Pamela LaForce. This popular American musical by lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken made its Ohio debut on CVLT's stage 30 years ago. "Little Shop" is based on a 1960 black comedy B-movie in which a man-eating plant takes advantage of a poor, nerdy florist. The score includes memorable songs such as "Somewhere That's Green," "Dentist!," and "Suddenly Seymour," and launched Menken and Ashman into their careers as the songwriters behind a string of Disney blockbusters.

"Little Shop" runs 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays March 24 through April 22, with Sunday matinees at 2 on April 2 and 9. Tickets are $20, with $4 discount for seniors and students. Group discounts and event packages also available. It is not recommended for young children due to some scary scenes.

Contact the Box Office 1-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 440-247-8955, visit CVLT.org to purchase tickets or get more information.

CVLT is generously funded by Cuyahoga County residents through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and supported by the Ohio Arts Council. CVLT is a proud member of the American Association of Community Theatre.
