Sound Designer- Paid Position at AFDA for Hadestown Teen Edition
Sound Designer Job Description Academy For Dramatic Arts is seeking a Sound Designer to oversee the sound design and board operation for our upcoming production of Hadestown: Teen Edition (July 22-26). This role is central to bringing an immersive experience to audiences of this show to life, ensuring proper use and organization of equipment, and a professional experience for both cast and audience. Responsibilities - Create a sound design plan for the production including mic plot and sound effect plot. - Meet with the Director to review and collaborate on a design cohesive with the production as a whole. - Manage sound budget, documenting purchases and keeping receipts organized. - Manage all sound decisions for the show, including the rental of microphones from outside contractors. - Be available during tech week and brush up rehearsal to fix and make adjustments to the sound design plan. - Run the microphones and sound cues for the shows, July 22nd- July 26th [5 shows]. Qualifications - Experience as a Sound Design and/or Sound Board Operator. - Strong knowledge of microphones and sound boards. - Leadership and organizational skills to rental, equipment and deadlines. - Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours during production periods. - Knowledge of theatre safety standards and best practices. Rehearsals and performances take place at Christ United Church, 23114 West Road, Olmsted Falls, OH 44138.
