TWO OLD JEWS WALK IN A DELI ...
TOJWIAD, an hilarious play by Cleveland author/provocateur Joey Bauer, is on kindle. You don't have to be Jewish to love matzo ball soup, but it wouldn't hurt. The scene is an L.A. deli. We're meeting two life-long pals, Marty and Mendy, both in their early 70's, having a reunion and discussing: marriages made in heaven and elsewhere, the merits of fat vs. lean corned beef, the perils of online dating, movie star encounters – (a jealous Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone caught with his pants down) - ungrateful children and the joys of singing the “Fiddler on the Roof” songbook with golden-throated hookers. They also ponder the questions: Is New York cheesecake a gift from God; who picks up the check; and, especially, who takes the pretty twenty-something waitress home with them? With a pinch of vintage Jackie Mason and Mel Brooks humor, some attention to the effects of aging on appetite and erections and an ending with a wallop, this is the funniest material since “The Producers".
