FRENCH CREEK HIRING SUMMER STAFF
Lorain County Metro Parks’ French Creek Theatre is looking for two well-rounded and talented college students or recent graduates serve as the choreographer and music director for both our performing arts camp *and* our summer youth theater production. Both camp and youth rehearsals run during the day, during the work week. Experience/Qualifications Candidate must have experience in: - Teaching music/choreography in a rehearsal or classroom setting. - Working with children grades 5-12. - Choreographing/Teaching music numbers for large groups- up to 40 cast members at a time. - Creating classroom content for ages 10-13. - Conflict resolution between students/campers. - Candidate must be highly adaptable in a classroom and rehearsal setting - Must be able to function and lead a large group of kids a time. - Be comfortable starting conversations and meeting new campers and cast members - Must be personable and encourage students to maintain a safe, and positive environment. Duties include: - Teaching dance/music concentrated classes for our one week theatre camp, (June 27th- July 1) - Creating content for said classes as well as content for group activities such as theatre games, challenges, and exercises. - Serving as the head choreographer/music director for our youth musical with rehearsals starting July 5th and opening August 5th. - Creating and implementing a set dance/music rehearsal schedule in collaboration with the director - Creating additional resources for cast to practice choreography/music at home i.e. tutorial videos. - Must attend all camp days and rehearsals. French Creek strives to promote a fun, safe, and positive atmosphere while encouraging campers and cast members to approach the arts with confidence. Both Camp and Rehearsals for the youth show will take place at French Creek Nature Center in Sheffield Village. Chosen candidate will receive a stipend at the end of our rehearsal period.
