Playwright Charles Ludlam pulls out the stops with a show that includes Egyptian mummies, vampires, ghosts and werewolves set in a proper Victorian manor household, complete with a butler and housekeeper. The three-act play is a satirical mashup of theatrical, literary and film genres from Wuthering Heights and Hitchock’s Rebecca to the French serial Les Vampires. Directed by Robert McCoy The Velocity of Autumn by ERIC COBLE OCTOBER 12 - 27 Fridays & Saturdays at 8 PM Sundays Oct. 21 at 2 PM Tickets $13
From Cleveland-native playwright Eric Coble, The Velocity Of Autumn swirls around Alexandra (MARGO PARKER), an 80-year-old artist in a showdown with her family over where she’ll spend her remaining years.
In Alexandra’s corner are her wit, her volcanic passion, and the fact that she’s barricaded herself in her Brooklyn brownstone with enough Molotov cocktails to take out the block. But her children have their own secret weapon: estranged son Chris (ADAM YOUNG), who returns after 20 years, crawls through Alexandra’s second-floor window and becomes the family’s unlikely mediator. No sooner are the words “Hi, Mom” uttered than the emotional bombs start detonating. The Velocity Of Autumn is a wickedly funny and wonderfully touching discovery of the fragility and ferocity of life. Directed by Katharine Tonti OCTOBER 27 & 28 at 2 PM Bring your little ones to Ghosts, Goblins & Gobbledygook, our annual Halloween event for young children! Tickets are just $8.
