Auditions for The Amen Corner at Weathervane Playhouse
Weathervane Playhouse is thrilled to announce auditions for The Amen Corner, a powerful and moving play by James Baldwin, directed by Terrence Spivey, with musical direction by Glenn Brackens. Audition Dates: * Thursday, October 10: 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. * Friday, October 11: 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. * Callbacks: Sunday, October 13: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (if necessary) Show Run: January 9 - January 26, 2025 Character Breakdown: All roles are intended for Black actors. From the complex and spiritual Margaret Alexander to the fiery Sister Moore, The Amen Corner offers incredible opportunities for actors to dive into rich, emotionally charged characters. We’re also looking for powerful vocalists to make up the congregation. Key Roles: * Margaret Alexander (Late 40s-50s): Pastor struggling with faith, family, and her congregation. * Luke (Late 40s-50s): Margaret’s estranged, ill husband. * David (18): Margaret’s son is torn between his parents and his own dreams. * Odessa (Late 30s-40s): Margaret’s loyal sister. * Sister Moore (Late 50s-60s): A leader in the church who challenges Margaret. Congregation Members Wanted! Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass vocalists are needed. Experience with the Gospel is a plus but not required. Be prepared to sing 12 measures of a song of your choice. What to Prepare: * Actors: Please prepare a 2-3 minute dramatic monologue. * Singers: Prepare 12 measures of a song (Gospel preferred but not required). * Be ready to move and read from the script. Bring a headshot, resume, and your rehearsal availability calendar. Rehearsal Schedule: Begins November 12 with a break for the holiday season. Rehearsals will generally be Sundays through Thursdays, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tech rehearsals are mandatory starting January 4. We can't wait to see you at the auditions!

JERSEY BOYS February 27 to March 30, 2025 Book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, Music by Bob Gaudi, Lyrics by Bob Crewe Directed by Melanie YC Pepe, Assistant Directed by Kevin Lambes Choreographed by Marissa Leenaarts Music Directed by Ron Hazelett Auditions will take place on Friday, November 8, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, November 9, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, November 10 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, November 12. WHAT TO PREPARE * Please bring a headshot and/or resume if you have one. * Please prepare 32 bars of an upbeat song in the style of the show - but NOT from the show itself; an accompanist will be provided. * If you are auditioning for FRANKI VALLI or NICK MASSI please also prepare the following: * Franki Valli - Walk Like A Man * Nick Massi - Silhouettes * Auditioners should be prepared to take part in harmonizing exercises. * Auditions will include a dance call. Please bring comfortable clothes and shoes to move in. * Please bring your calendar to auditions to declare any scheduling conflicts on Dec 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 & 11. (Break for the Holiday Season) And on Sundays through Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 pm., January 5 through February 13. * Please arrive fifteen minutes before your scheduled audition time to complete audition forms. REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES Rehearsals will begin on Dec 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 & 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. We will break for the holiday season and return Sundays through Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 pm., January 5 through February 13. Cast members will only be called for rehearsals when needed. ALL TECHNICAL REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES ARE MANDATORY. Tech starts with a Sitzprobe on Thursday, February 20. It then continues on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, Tuesday, Feb. 25, and Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. JERSEY BOYS runs for a total of 20 performances from February 27 to March 30, 2025.
