Auditions for *The Addams Family* at Hathaway Brown school We are looking for male high school students who are interested in auditioning for our fall musical *The Addams Family. *There are several great roles available and we would love to have anyone interested come by and audition! This is an exciting time for us because we will be participating, for the first time ever, in the Dazzle awards! *Creative Team:* Director - Dan Hendrock Music Director - Laura Webster Choreographer - Jenny Burnett Set/Lighting/Projection Design – T. Paul Lowry *When:* Auditions will be August 28th and August 29th with callbacks on August 30th. Each day will be from 3:30-6pm. We would like you to attend both days of auditions with singing and acting being on the 28th and a dance audition on the 29th. We will be having people read and sing and dance at the callbacks on the 30th. Sides and music will be provided. The performance dates will be November 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. Rehearsals will be from 4pm-6pm at Hathaway Brown School. *Where:* Hathaway Brown School 19600 N. Park Blvd. Shaker Heights, Ohio 44122. Auditions will be held in the Black Box. If you are not familiar with the building and need directions, please ask the front desk or email Dan Hendrock at dhendrock@hb.edu for specific instructions. *What:* Please bring a song in the style of the show that is one minute or less. Please bring sheet music with you, we highly discourage singing A Capella. Sides will be available for you to read at the audition. For the dance audition on August 29th, please dress comfortably and wear appropriate clothing to move around in. Best, Dan Hendrock Upper School Theatre Director at Hathaway Brown School Below is a character breakdown of the roles we are looking to fill: ------------------------------ *Characters:* *UNCLE FESTER* The zany family member who serves as the musicals narrator and key character. He is larger than life, an energetic, joyous, with a child-like presence. A vaudeville style comedian. Must be able to move well and have physical comedy. Tenor vocals. *GOMEZ ADDAMS* A man who takes great pride in his family and revels in all and what it means to be an “Addams.” He struggles with having to keep his daughters’ secret from his wife, whom he adores more than death. He is optimistic, he has full enthusiasm for his dreadful plots... Must have great comedic timing and a strong singing voice. Should also be a good dancer. Smart, strong comedic actor with great expressions and physical comedy. Spanish accent is a plus. Tango dance required. Tenor/high baritone vocals. To look like an adult. *PUGSLEY ADDAMS* A charming, funny boy who loves being tortured by his sister. He wants to ensure he won’t lose his sister to her new boyfriend so he takes matters into his own hands. Strong, high vocals. To look 12 – 16 years. *LURCH* A very tall male character, the Addams butler who knows all. Character actor with a low bass vocals to Eb. To look like 16-adult *MAL BEINEKE* Stuffy father of Lucas and exasperated husband to his rhyming wife, Alice. Always looking out for his family. Male actor with high baritone/ tenor vocals. To look like an adult. *LUCAS BEINEKE* Fell in love at first sight with Wednesday Addams and plans to marry her. Experiences the youthful pain and drama of young love and struggles with the differences between his family and the Addams family. Contemporary pop tenor vocals. To look 16 – 21 years.
