Auditions for PAID school tour of Hansel & Gretel
Spark Theatre Company is now accepting non-equity submissions for its upcoming production of *Hansel & Gretel*, to travel to NE Ohio schools as an assembly program April 25th-May 20th. Spark is seeking 4-6 performers and a stage manager for this production. An all-new spin on *Hansel & Gretel* written by Cleveland playwright, Erin E. Dolan! The classic Grimm's fairy tale has been updated and now- Hansel & Gretel's parents are the ones who are lost.The clever Gretel and inventive Hansel use math and ingenuity to furiously rescue their mysteriously missing parents. *AVAILABLE ROLES (3M/3W):* *Actor 1; GRETEL- *female identifying with a youthful spirit. Clever with a passion for science. 18+ to read younger, any ethnicity. * Actor 2; HANSEL- *male identifying with a youthful spirit and very inventive. 18+ to read younger, any ethnicity. *Actor 3; MUTTER (Mother), HEXE (Witch), BAUME (Trees), STEINE (Stones)- *female identifying versatile actor, with a flair for whimsical storytelling who reads older than Hansel/Gretel. Any ethnicity. *Actor 4- VATER (Father), POSSUM, BAUME (Trees), STEINE (Stones)- *male identifying versatile actor with comedic timing who reads older than Hansel/Gretel. Any ethnicity. Physical comedy is a plus. *Actor 5- FEMALE SWING-* an actor to cover ACTOR1/ACTOR3 tracks, may also double as stage manager with pay increases accordingly. *Actor 6- MALE SWING- *an actor to cover ACTOR2/ACTOR4 tracks, may also double as stage manager with pay increases accordingly. *HOW* Actors are asked to submit interest along with headshot/resume and link to any reels. Must have availability April 20th-24th for tech/dress rehearsals. *PERFORMANCE: *Performances are held on selected weekdays during school hours from April 25th-May 20th, 2022 as well as a short performance on the evening of Saturday, April 30th. Performers will have a specific show schedule 1-week in advance, and there may be some flexibility in weekday conflicts by utilizing our swings. Weekday conflicts listed at the time of hiring can be accommodated as performances vary based on schools booking assemblies. We estimate 10-15 performances total. *COMPENSATION: *Actors will be compensated a stipend of $500 ($125/week) as well as reimbursed for performance related travel to and from schools at the IRS standard rate. *Spark Theatre Company is committed to creating this project as safely as possible. As such, we are implementing the following:* - Actors auditioning must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster (if applicable). - All performances will adhere to individual school guidelines, ie. some performances may be masked, some unmasked. We will plan accordingly and stage for distance between the audience and the performers. - Providing self-tests for all if any performer presents symptoms and halting performance until negative results are confirmed. We plan to hire swings to also cover tracks in the event of illness or scheduling conflicts. *Spark Theatre Company embraces diversity and inclusion, and utilizes a non-traditional casting policy.
