Twin Masks Performing Arts Center (TMPAC) is proud to announce auditions for its upcoming production, Venus in Fur, written by David Ives, on Sunday, June 9 and Monday, June 10, both nights from 7 PM to 9 PM. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Directed by Brian Westerley. Performance dates: August 2, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17, 2024. 8pm curtain. Twin Masks is located at 9076 Church St., Suites 2 and 3, in the center of Twinsburg, across the street from the Twinsburg Square. THE STORY: Thomas, a beleaguered playwright/director, is desperate to find an actress to play Vanda, the female lead in his adaptation of the classic sadomasochistic tale Venus in Fur. Into his empty audition room walks a vulgar and equally desperate actress—oddly enough, named Vanda. Though utterly wrong for the sophisticated part, Vanda exhibits a strange command of the material, piquing Thomas’ interest with her seductive talents and secretive manner. As the two work through the script, they blur the line between play and reality, entering into an increasingly serious game of submission and domination that only one of them can win.
