CONVERGENCE-CONTINUUM IS HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR BOOTYCANDY: IN-YOUR-FACE SATIRE ABOUT GROWING UP GAY AND BLACK, BY ROBERT O’HARA, DIRECTED BY TERRENCE SPIVEY. ROLES: 2 Black females, 2 Black males, 1 White male. WHEN: auditions on Weds, Oct 14 at 6 pm, and Sat, Oct 17 at 11 am. WHERE: convergence-continuum, Liminis Theater, 2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland 44113 in the Tremont neighborhood AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Please have a monologue (max. 3 min.) and be prepared to improvise. Sides will also be provided for reading from the script in group audition. SHOW DATES: opens Fri, March 25, 2016 and runs Thu-Sat thru April 16. Rehearsals start mid/late Feb. BOOTYCANDY tells the story of Sutter, who is on an outrageous journey through his childhood home, his church, dive bars, motel rooms, and even a nursing home. The play tells his story through scenes, sermons, sketches and meta-theatrics. (Sort of “In Living Color” and “Saturday Night Live” style, and very non-politically correct.) All except Actor Two play multiple roles ACTOR ONE: Black Woman (age 20-30), plays Young Black Mom, Adella, Big Shirley, Writer 1, Young Sibling, Intifada ACTOR TWO: Black Man (age 20-30), plays Sutter ACTOR THREE: Black Woman (age 30-40), plays Eudarrie, Lucy, Writer 2, Middle Aged Mother, Genitalia ACTOR FOUR: Black Man (age 30-40), plays Reverend Benson, Writer 3, Stepfather, Larry, Old Granny ACTOR FIVE: White Male (age 20-40), plays Roy, Clint, Moderator, Officiant, White Man NOTE: This is a gay satire so there will be some guy-on-guy kissing. If this is a problem, then this ain’t the play and theater for you. Also, maybe there might be some brief nudity on the part of Actor Five.
