Workshop Players Seeks Directors for 2026-2027 season
Workshop Players Theatre 44820 Middle Ridge Road Amherst, OH 44001 May 2025 Dear Potential Director, As we approach the beginning of our 77th season, it becomes time to start thinking about our 78th! Planning ahead is important as our process for selecting directors and a season spans several months. We are hoping that you may be interested in applying to direct in our unique space during our 2026-2027 season. Please note that we are proud to be an all-volunteer theater. It has been that way —- community based for over seven decades which is a remarkable testimony to the power of theater and the commitment of individuals to bring our stage to life. *The deadline for applying is August 1, 2025. * *We welcome new comedies as well as the tried and true; compelling dramas and small-scale musicals. We are also very interested in producing Christmas fare, so if you know of a good Christmas piece we would be happy to have you submit it. — More than anything, it is our focus to entertain!!! * *Please submit to Play Reading Committee Chair Pat Price at * *pprice203@gmail.com* <pprice203@gmail.com> **if you have not directed with us before, please include a theatrical resume * **Submit 4-5 plays that you would be interested in directing at Workshop, along with synopsis of the play (*may be copied and pasted from licensing agent)*. * **Give a brief summary of why you believe the play would be effective in our unique theater-in-the-round space. * **Please be prepared to have at least one copy of each script available for the play reading committee should you be selected as one of the directors. * Submitting directors *may *be interviewed by the Board of Trustees in August. After that the play reading committed will read the 25-30 plays submitted by the 5 chosen directors, The slate of shows for our 78th season will be chosen in November and the director will be notified. *It is important to submit 4, or even better, 5 choices, so that we may end up with a balanced, exciting season.* *Due to the cost of production, Workshop Players would do no more than one musical in a season, therefore if submitting musicals also include some straight plays to increase your chance of being chosen to direct. Be aware that our backstage space is very limited, making massive scene changes difficult.* Check out our website at workshopplayers.org for a list of plays that have been presented for the past 75 years. Thank you for considering submitting an application. Pat Price Play Reading Committee Chair -- Workshop Players Theatre 44820 Middle Ridge Road P.O.
