HATHAWAY BROWN THEATRE INSTITUTE - SUMMER 2017 - ADVANCED ACTING WORKSHOPS
*Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) - offering advanced acting workshops for high school and college students. * HBTI, a part of the Performing Arts Department at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, offers young people a challenging curriculum of drama, dance and music, as well as the opportunity to participate in fully staged productions. This summer there are two different ADVANCED ACTING WORKSHOPS being offer to high school and college age students *Session 1: June 19 - July 7, 2017 * *Advanced Acting "The Plays the Thing". * *Instructors: Bob Russell, Ryan Zarecki, Katie Zarecki, Tess Burgler and Joe Pine* This workshop is divided into three (3) one week long intensives. *Week One*: The students will move directly into rehearsal for an adapted production of the critically acclaimed *Peter and the Star Catcher. **Week two:* Stage Combat Intensive. Students will have a full week of combat techniques including hand to to hand combat and stage weaponry. The week will build to full stage combat choreography within the action of a play. *Week three*: Students begin rehearsal for* The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). *In addition all the workshop student will take a daily ballet class and monologue class. This is for high school and college students. Previous HBTI experience is highly recommended or permission from the HBTI director. *Session 3: July 31 - August 11, 2017* *Advanced Acting ** "Musical Theatre Project" * *Instructors: Bob Russell and John Krol* This two week workshop will take the student into the rehearsals of a musical production with fully integrating performance techniques and an in-house production to be performed for HBTI students at the end of the session. In addition the workshop students will take a daily ballet and vocal class. This workshop has been created for high school and college students with strong singing and movement abilities. Previous HBTI training is highly recommended or permission from the HBTI director.
