Open Auditions for Ken Ludwig's raucous comedy, Shakespeare in Hollywood, which will be presented by the Canal Fulton Players on March 9-11, 16-18 at Pine Wood Acres, 4194 Butterbridge Road NW, North Lawrence, Ohio, will be held at the same place on January 3-4, 2018 at 7:00 pm each night. The play is about the making of the 1934 film, Midsummer's Night Dream, which starred James Cagney and Mickey Rooney. Due to a cosmic disturbance the actual fairies, Oberon, the Fairy King, and ...Puck, his mischievous aide, are transported to Hollywood and because they seem so real are actually cast in the movie. So reality meets fantasy, and fantasy meets reality as the producer and director tries to make heads or tails about the whole situation as Louella Parsons, the noted society page journalist, tries to figure out who the two new actors are. Six male parts with four female parts are available. There are several cameos which a male actor can all portray ranging from Jimmy Cagney to Johnny Weismuller. David Van Gaasbeek is the director.
