EVENT: Register NOW! Dover Players YOUTH THEATER CAMP - Starts on Oct. 7 Do you know of a child or teen, age 8-18 who wants to learn about community theater? Here is a special opportunity! Join Dover Player's YOUTH THEATER CAMP! Starts SOON! Have fun, meet new friends, and get creative!!! There are still spaces available in the Youth Theater Camp for additional students, but you need to register soon!!! The camp begins Saturday, October 7. Jim Volkert*, a director of children's plays for Dover Players, is looking for additional children or teens, age 8-18, to participate in an eight week Youth Theater Camp on Saturdays in October and November. Below are the details and contact information: Dates: Oct 7- Nov 25 Saturdays only Time: 10:00 am - 12:30 pm each Saturday Location: (Dover Players new location) North Olmsted United Methodist Church 4600 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 What the camp will cover: Learn basic stage craft while rehearsing a play. Students will learn how to audition, create a character, vocalization, movement and props while working on a show to be presented the last weekend of the camp. (Targeted for students ages 8-18 years old.) Director/ Instructor: Jim Volkert Cost for the 8 week Youth Theater Camp session is $130 and includes script. Register now so you can take part in this exciting and educational Youth Theater Camp! *Information About Jim Volkert Jim Volkert is an experienced, professional actor, director, teacher, author, technical director and puppeteer. At The Illusion Factory in Akron, Jim provided children's theater instruction and was the company/road manager for the professional touring company introducing young people to theater. Jim performs children's plays at the Yankee Peddler Festival each year and has directed numerous other children's plays for Dover Players, The Rabbit Run Theater, Twinsburg Community Theater, and conducted youth theater workshops for the Western Reserve Playhouse. In addition to his youth theater workshops, Jim has directed a number of plays for the Western Reserve Playhouse in Bath, Ohio, such as Neil Simon's God's Favorite in which he won an Excellence in Set Design Award from OCTA. In 2007 Jim also won a Merit in Directing Award from OCTA for the Western Reserve Playhouse production of Opal's Husband. In November of 2010 Jim was awarded Outstanding Artist in Theater from the Akron Area Arts Alliance.
