Kerry Clawson of the Akron Beacon Journal calls Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace, "...a dark thriller that keeps us constantly in suspense..." Full review https://bit.ly/2sTM7vL David Ritchey of the West Side Leader says "The cast helps the story's easy flow. (Olivia) King as (Grace) Marks helps the story flow like a river, sometimes smooth and sometimes in rough rapids. King's performance is worth the price of admission." Full review https://bit.ly/37k9PAl Preview article from the Akron Beacon Journal https://bit.ly/2NyvNrz A psychological thriller from the author of The Handmaid's Tale. Based upon the novel by Margaret Atwood and adapted for the stage by Jennifer Blackmer, Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace tells the true story of an Irish immigrant who worked as a household maid in the mid-1800s and was later convicted of murder. Although set in another era, it speaks specifically and almost uncannily to today's audiences. The show addresses issues such as the reception of immigrants, the predatory nature of the powerful, and how others in power conspire to keep their crimes hidden. Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace runs January 16th through February 2nd in the Founders Theater. Show times are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $11 -$23 and can be purchased by calling 330-836-2626 or by visiting www.weathervaneplayhouse.com<http://www.weathervaneplayhouse.com> Standard ticketing fees apply. Playwright Jennifer Blackmer will be joining us after the show on Saturday, January 18th for a talk-back. Director, Melanie YC Pepe, says of the show: "Margaret Atwood's Alias Grace is a true-crime story. A murder mystery. Comic. Tragic. A history play. Social commentary. Fact. Fiction. All of these statements are true... if you want them to be." AUDIENCE ADVISORY: The play is recommended for audiences ages 16 and older due to adult content and themes.
