Auditions take place Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM online. This production will utilize non-traditional, integrated, and flipped casting. Audition time slots will last for the full 60 minutes each evening. Appointments are preferred. The first of the MainStage productions in UA Theatre’s 2020-2021 Season, Woolf’s “The Waves” follows six friends at various points throughout their lives with lush and vibrant stream-of-consciousness monologues. This production will weave these stories to create an intimate virtual theatre piece that embraces the challenges of theatre in the midst of a pandemic – going back to the simple but profound foundations of the actor’s work – breath, sensual awareness, rhythm. For the audition, prepare a 1-2 minute poem to read with as much physical space to move while on your webcam as your circumstances will allow.
