Into the Breeches! Auditions at Stow Players
Into the Breeches! by George Brandt and directed by Pat Robertell-Hudson will hold auditions on Saturday January 8th from 1PM to 2:30PM and Sunday January 9th from 7PM to 9PM at the Heritage Barn in Silver Springs Park in Stow, Ohio. Auditions will be open call and consist of reading from script. Please bring your resume if you have one and a list of conflicts. Rehearsals will begin the week of January 11. Performances will be held March 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, and 19. Cast List: Maggie Dalton-white female in her mid 40s, the talented if untested Director Celeste Fielding-white female in her 50s, the diva and star of many performances Ellsworth Snow-white male in his 60s, conservative board president of the Oberon Play House Winifred Snow-white female in her 50s or 60s, untalented but enthusiastic socialite, wife of Ellsworth Snow Stuart Lasker-white male in his 40s or 50s, the quip-ready Stage Manager Ida Green-African-American female in her 30s or 40s, the imaginative costume designer June Bennett-white female in her late teens or 20s, the ingenue Grace Richards-white female in her late 20s or 30s, a raw talent Synopsis: Oberon Play House’s director and leading men are off at war. Determined to press on, the director’s wife sets out to produce an all-female version of Shakespeare’s Henriad (Henry IV and Henry V), assembling an increasingly unexpected team united in desire, if not actual theatre experience. The women pull on their breeches and move from the sidelines to centerstage. Set during World War II, these women show a spirit of collaboration, dauntless enthusiasm, and a belief in the power of art to heal the world.
