Through theater games and instruction in music and movement, campers will learn performance skills. An original mini performance of “Down on the Farm” will be presented for parents on Friday evening to showcase what the campers have learned. Participation in the performance is required. Make note of Activity #111304, Section 2. 2016 Theater Camp (for children who have completed 1st through 6th grades) *August 1 – 5, 2016* *Monday – Friday 9:00AM – 3:00PM* *Performance Obligation: Friday, August 5, 5:00PM – 8:30PM* Theater Camp is a one-week, performance-based camp that serves as an introduction to musical theater. Swim-time is included. Designed for children who have completed Grades 1 through 6, the camp is carefully articulated so that returning campers develop their performance skills by participating in fun, age-appropriate activities in the areas of acting, music, and dance/movement. During craft time, students work on projects that serve as costumes, props, and scenery for the production. The instruction is provided by experienced teachers, aided by teenage volunteer interns. Roles are cast on the first day of camp at the discretion of the directing team and announced at Monday’s pickup. Not all children will be assigned a speaking role. There is no appeal process for casting decisions. No experience is necessary. The camp culminates with two performances of *Disney’s Aristocats KIDS* on Friday evening. Participation in the performances is required. Each participant will receive two complimentary tickets for either performance. Additional tickets may be purchased during camp. Camper packets containing scripts and music will be available for pick up the week prior to camp. After-care can be arranged through the Recreation Department (440-838-4522).
