Great Lakes Theater Announces Auditions For "Classics On Tour" Production: THE JABBERWOCKY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2016 Great Lakes Theater ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR CLASSICS ON TOUR PRODUCTION THE JABBERWOCKY Great Lakes Theater (GLT) announces open auditions for non-equity actors for the Classics On Tour production THE JABBERWOCKY, a play for young audiences, written by Dakotah Brown, Noah Moody and Chad Shohet, and based on the classic poem by Lewis Carroll. THE JABBERWOCKY will tour to 50 community venues in northern Ohio between February 21 and March 24, 2016, Tuesdays through Sundays, often two performances daily. The play will be directed by GLT Director of Educational Programming Lisa Ortenzi. Synopsis: Two students - Dodgson and Steve - band together after being bullied by classmates. To avoid their tormentors, the students follow a secret map and escape to the Tulgey Wood - where they meet a king who begs them to save his people from the fearsome Jabberwocky! Meet colorful characters like Cheshire Cat, JubJub Bird, Bandersnatch, and a family of Momeraths as this unlikely but dynamic duo journeys to save a kingdom. Along the way, they find the courage to defeat the Jabberwocky...and apply the lessons learned to face their fears back home. Eligibility: Those auditioning should bring a headshot and resume and prepare two contrasting monologues. Total audition time should not exceed three minutes. Familiarity with Lewis Carrolls original poem The Jabberwocky is helpful but not required. Applicants must have a driver license and a reliable automobile. A background check will also be required. Audition slots are available on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Audition sessions will take place in a Playhouse Square Rehearsal Hall, 1650 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44114. Callbacks will be held Tuesday, September 27. Available Roles: Needed are four ensemble performers (age range: 20s 30s) to portray a dozen characters and to operate puppets. Evening/daytime rehearsals begin Monday, January 30, 2017, but preliminary costume fittings will be scheduled in November 2016. All positions are paid. Auditions are by appointment only.
