A good-looking, pleasant guy. A good friend to Kennedy who wants to be more, unrequited love. In his last year of law school which he attends with Kennedy. GREGORY TALBOT - Kennedy's family attorney. Late 60’s. Low-key. Genial. Loyal to the Blaines. He's watched Kennedy grow to be an adult and only wants the best for her. SMITH BLAINE - Mid-40’s. Could stand to lose some weight. Disarming confidence-- a sizable fish in a very small pond. As the story unfolds it's revealed Smith has been skimming money from Kennedy's father and the Circle Cross Ranch for a number of years. A slick opportunist/con man who has never been caught - until now. PASTOR MORGAN - Late 60’s. A big man. Kind smile. That rare person utterly comfortable in his skin. Kennedy's "long lost" second cousin who welcomes Kennedy to Valentine and gets her involved in a church charity bringing Inner City kids to the country to experience out door living. ROBIN - Mid-40’s. Avid church goer, attends all the events and charities. A pleasant, professional woman. She runs the Historical Society and plays a key role bringing Kennedy and Derek closer together, ultimately keeping Kennedy in Valentine for good. LAZARO - Mid-30’s. A big man with a dangerous edge. Hard eyes. A small scar on his cheek. Escaped from prison for murder, has a shady past with Derek when they both lived on the mean streets of Chicago 20 years ago. He tries to extort money out of Derek in return for all the years he lost in prison, for which he blames Derek. YOUNG GABRIEL MORGAN - late 40s, distinct, influential. Read below for more details. GABRIEL MORGAN - late 70s to 80s, distinct, influential. An intimidating old man holding on to a grudge dividing the Morgan family and the Blaine family for 100 years. He disowns his daughter Grace (Kennedy's mother) when she disobeys his orders and marries Kenny Blaine (Kennedy's father). Years later, when Kennedy comes to Valentine she confronts Gabriel, challenging his old ways and his ability to forgive himself for what he did to her family. KENNY BLAINE - early 20’s, good looking, strong, determined, madly in love with Grace Morgan. When Grace's diary is found and read by Kennedy we see the love story between Grace and Kenny play out and ultimately change Kennedy's fate in Valentine. GRACE - early 20’s, spitting image of Grace, strong, determined, madly in love with Kenny Blaine.
