The 13th annual International Horror Hotel Film Festival is slated for June 20-23 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Airport with a slate of horror, scifi, action, and fantasy films bringing filmmakers from around the world to Cleveland This year, the film festival has new owners, all of whom are local award winning filmmakers, including Scott T. Morrison, Pauline Nowakowski, Tinna Hobbs, Gaines Strouse, Scott E. Brosius, Tyler N. Thomas and Johnny K. Wu. The new owners have planned many exciting changes to the 13th year of this festival. “With new owners, we have decided to start with a bang, bringing known experts from around the nation to Cleveland providing lectures,” said one of the co-managers, Johnny K. Wu. “We’ve got two distributors, an oscar nominated team member to talk about AI Filmmaking, AI and Intellectual Properties experts, Scriptwriters and Directors, as well as Cinematographers, Founder of Women of Colors Filmmakers, and of course Visual Effects Make Up Artists and Fight Choreographers. There is plenty for everyone into horror, scifi, and action genres to have a great learning experience during the weekend that starts June 20 through Sunday June 23rd”. The 13th year also embarks with the highest number of submissions ever in the festival’s history. “We received over 230+ films from around the world,” co-manager Tyler N. Thomas said. “It was a lot of work, with over 23+ judges working tirelessly to score these films/scripts within two months.” In addition to lectures and film screenings in two rooms, the 13th annual International Horror Hotel FIlm Festival also includes a convention area with numerous vendors that will offer a variety of products and services. For the first time, the festival includes the Room 237 Film Competition, films in this competition get a chance to win cash prizes as well as having their films shown on Friday evening. On Saturday, Jan 22nd at 5pm, an award ceremony will be held to award the best of the best films/scripts at the festival. In addition, 5 talented filmmakers or screenwriters will be inducted into the International FIlmmaking Hall of Fame. Finally, a networking event will be held on Saturday night so filmmakers can mingle and get to know each other. You can check out the website https://www.horrorhotelfilmfest.com for tickets information, as well as film schedules, nominations, lectures, and information on the convention area. The festival is still looking for volunteers. You can sign up to be a volunteer at our website. ### The International Horror Hotel Film Festival is a staple of the Cleveland Independent Film scene bringing great horror, scifi, action, and fantasy films from around the world. It is an indie film festival run by independent filmmakers and founded by Ray Szuch and Kristina Michelle. Now, with 7 new owners that are Ohio’s own award winning filmmakers, we look forward to taking this festival to the next level. Contact: Johnny K. Wu or Tyler N.
