*The Dark Room at CPT on March 14th * *This month: Featured Reading of I Know a Person Who by Christine Howey and Open Mic! * The Dark Room is a place where writers take center stage and their work has a chance to grow. The Dark Room is an ongoing event held on the second Tuesday of each month. The Dark Room affords emerging and veteran playwrights the space and resources to develop new works. It offers a venue to workshop plays, novels, poems, or any other written work in a supportive, yet critical environment. *Tuesday, March 14th* The Church at CPT (Just east of the Gordon Square Theatre Box Office) Cleveland Public Theatre 6407 Detroit Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102 *7:00pm: *Sign-up begins for writers and actors (space is limited). Writers can bring up to 10 pages of work to be read; actors will be cast on the spot! *7:30pm: *Featured Reading of *I Know a Person Who* by Christine Howey *8:15pm:* Open Mic Session readings begin *And don't forget - FREE Great Lakes Brewing Company beer!* Suggested donation of $5 is welcomed at the door, but not required. *ABOUT THE FEATURED READING:* *I Know a Person Who* is a 30-minute companion piece to *Exact Change*, the one-person show tracing the transgender journey of Christine Howey. This companion piece is fictional and has no trans characters. But each of the nine people in the piece has had a trans person emerge in their lives, be it a relative, lover, co-worker or friend. They have gathered to talk about their reactions to this situation in their lives, both positive and negative. The intent is to use this piece as a conversation starter when schools or organizations sponsor events involving trans and LGBT awareness, inclusion, etc. FEATURING John Busser, Barb Dragony, Stuart Hoffman, Greg Mandryk, Colleen McCaughey, Lynna Metrisin, John Stuehr, Amanda Van Allen and Carrie Williams. *ABOUT THE WRITER: *Christine Howey is an actor, director, theater critic and performance poet, and was recently named Poet Laureate of Cleveland Heights, Ohio for 2016-2018. Her one-person show of poetry about her transgender journey, *Exact Change*, had its world premiere at Cleveland Public Theatre in January, 2014. Since then, it has been performed at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, at the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival, and at several other venues. A film version of the play is due to be released in 2017. Open session readings are first come, first serve until all slots have been allotted.
