*AUDITION NOTICE* Seeking five actors for a table reading of a new full-length play, PANGAEA, by Chicago playwright Carson Grace Becker, to be directed by Christine McBurney. Audition via video submission (details below). Actors will receive an honorarium of $50 for one rehearsal and one reading/performance. *Reading:* Friday, November 10 at 7:00 pm convergence-continuum, 2438 Scranton Rd, Cleveland, OH 44113 *Rehearsal: * Thursday, November 9 (time tbd but likely 6:00 pm) Location for rehearsal: TBD Presented by the NEOMFA writing program as part of its Visiting Writers series. NEOMFA (Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing) is a unique, consortial graduate program that offers a terminal degree in Creative Writing. (https://neomfa.org/) *Open Roles* Ella 1 -- Female, 40s, settled, uneducated, forward, humorous, awaiting her own execution. Ella 2 -- Female, 13, curious, willful, careful, caged and considering her options. Ella 3 -- Female, 20s, intent, alone, ferrel, playing with a new adult freedom. Wick -- Male, anywhere between late 30s and 50s, Ella’s father, poor, wounded, cruel and broken, for reasons he refuses to contemplate. This actor will also play the Prison Guard and The Stag, either as an embodied character or as puppeteer. Narrator -- (Stage Directions) *Audition Process (Video Submission)* 1. No extensions, please. *Playwright & Director* *Carson Grace Becker *is an award winning, nationally produced playwright, screenwriter, dramaturg and arts educator. She earned her MFA in Playwriting from The University of Iowa, and her BA in English Literature and Women’s Studies from UCLA. She has taught Playwriting/Screenwriting at Columbia College Chicago, Roosevelt University, The Graham School, The Imagine Butte Resource Center, and Chicago Dramatists. She has been a guest artist at NYU, Ohio University, The Univ. of Nebraska, The Univ. of Illinois, and Oklahoma State University. She served as Literary Manager & Dramaturg at Honolulu Theatre for Youth, and is the founder of The Root & The Bloom Collective, a Humanities non-profit, housed at The Historic Clark Chateau in Butte, MT. She is the Artistic Director of Chicago Dramatists. *Christine McBurney* is an award-winning multi-hyphenate: a director, actor, and educator, who splits her time between Cleveland and New York. Christine was a co-founding, producing co-artistic director of Cleveland's critically-acclaimed classical theatre company, Mamaí Theatre (2010-2017). In 2017, The Cleveland Critics' Circle honored both Mamaí and her production of A Doll’s House at Playhouse Square with two Superior Achievement Awards. She has directed plays and opera for Mamaí, Playwrights Local, universities & more. A previous chair of Shaker Heights High School Theatre Arts Department, Christine now coaches acting at Bluestocking Productions and Baldwin Wallace Community Arts School. Other teaching positions include acting at the School of Film and Media Arts at Cleveland State University and theatre at Baldwin Wallace University’s Department of Theatre & Dance.
