CLEVE REVIEW: Cain Park Spends the Summer With Memorable Musical Mutant * 'The Toxic Avenger'* This chaotically charismatic production is directed and choreographed by Nathan Motta. Along with his masterful musical director Jordan Cooper, the pair have brought this unlikely love story/action thriller to life in the open air theatre at Cain Park. Motta has also populated the play with some of the finest actors in the area. Ellis C. Dawson III is more than up to the challenge of playing the dual role of Melvin/Toxie, never losing his inner humanity even after gaining a deformed green exterior. Natalie Green is intoxicating as his love interest Sarah, seamlessly combining silly and sexy as the sightless bookworm. The rest of the residents from Tromaville are impressively portrayed by a quirky quintet of talents. Kate Michalski impressively tackles several distinctly different characters, sometimes in the same scene. Malik Akil, Mariah Burks, Trey Gilpin, and Codie Higer also excel in multiple roles.
