WordStage ends its 2023 season with a tribute to James Thurber
WordStage Literary Concerts presents A Cavalcade of Thurber WordStage ends its 2023 season with a tribute to Ohio author, humorist and illustrator, James Thurber. Our program begins with an excerpt from an interview Thurber did for the Paris Review, conducted by George Plimpton and Max Steele. In it, he tells amusing stories of everything from his own writing process, to his cartoons and illustrations, to incidents in his life that shaped his own amusing and idiosyncratic literary output, to often acerbic comments about writers, friends, and associates. The second part of the program will be a collection of some of his most wry tales and fables, such as “The Little Girl and the Wolf,” “The Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing,” and “The Unicorn in the Garden.” These will be accompanied by a selection of manic melodies that underscore the quirkiness of Thurber’s delightfully skewed stories. The program will take place in the Wright Chapel of the Lakewood Presbyterian Church - 14502 Detroit Ave. in Lakewood, OH on Saturday, November 18th at 7:00 p.m. For more information, please visit our website at www.wordstageohio.org.
