Full Season Stage Crew Job Description Classification: Full-Time;Seasonal; Non-Exempt Term of Employment: August 15, 2022 through May28th, 2023 Reports to: Director of Production Pay range: $15.23/hour ClevelandPlay House (CPH) is seeking a Full Season Stage Crew to join the productionteam for the 2021-22 season. The Full Season Stage Crew will primarily work onCPH shows in various backstage roles depending on the needs of the show. Thismay include Stage Crew, Wardrobe, Sound, Lighting, Projections. When shows arenot happening during the season the Full Season Stage Crew will work with CPHProduction Departments to learn additional backstage skills. Responsibilities Include: · Cultivatea collaborative, inclusive, and anti-racist culture at CPH by building positiverelationships with staff, and immediately addressing instances of microaggressive or harmful language or behavior · Assist with load-in and strikeof production elements · Work each technical rehearsaland performance of show · Work with Stage Carp and StageCrew on proper methods to move and fly scenery · Work with Stage Management staffto develop shift plots for moving scenery and props during the performance · Work with Stage Management staffin rehearsals to support daily rehearsal process · Make sure stage and backstageareas are swept, mopped and cleaned before each rehearsal and performance · Keep paperwork up to date bywriting down changes to preset or run lists; update paperwork during tech; provideStage Management staff with updated copy of paperwork · Assist with the daily post showclean up · Notify Stage Carpenter of anybroken scenery or props; repair and maintain scenery and emergency repairs forprops during the run of the show · Work with Costume Shop, StageManagement, and Production Management to setup Dressing Rooms prior to start oftechnical rehearsals · Uphold the policies andprocedures outlined in the Cleveland Play House Handbook. · Professionally representCleveland Play House to outside personnel including visiting artists, andpatrons · Maintain a safe and healthy workenvironment · Attend and participate in allassigned staff training sessions, department meetings and potential committeeor affinity groups within the organization · Participatein weekly departmental Equity Diversity Inclusion and Access learning meetings Relevantexperience: Previous Run CrewExperience; Wardrobe; Sound; Lighting; Projections; Carpentry; Paint; Props; Experiencestaying alert and focused during long periods of inactivity Requiredskills: Good eyesight in low light situations; Capacity to solveproblems and engage in creative thinking about challenges; Ability tobrainstorm ideas in a group setting; Ability to work independently andcollaboratively. Desiredskills: general knowledge of theatre practices; ability to workfrom ladders and personnel lifts; ability to easily lift and move up to 35 lbs. WorkSchedule: Primarilyevening/weekend Tuesday through Sunday depending on show schedule. During non-tech/performanceweeks, the Full Season Stage Crew position will be assigned to other ProductionDepartments to learn additional backstage work skills. (IATSE) Stage Carpenter Position type: Full-Time; Seasonal; Non-Exempt; Union (IATSE) Pay range: $22.13 per hour Start Date: August 22, 2022 (can delay start date) End Date: May 28, 2023 Reports to: Technical Director Supervises: Stage Crew Cleveland Play House (CPH) is seeking an IATSE Stage Carpenter to join the production team for the 2022-23 season to build for our main stages, New Ground Theatre Festival, and the CWRU/CPH MFA program to help ensure that each technical rehearsal and performance runs smoothly. Must be willing to join IATSE Local 27. Responsibilities Include: Assist with load-in and strike of scenery Attend Designer Run-through Make sure all line sets are properly spiked before the onstage spacing rehearsal and removed at strike of show Participate in weekly departmental equity, diversity, inclusion and access learning conversations Attend each tech rehearsal and performance of show Train and supervise Stage Crew on proper methods to move scenery Work with Stage Management to develop shift plots for moving scenery and props during performance Make sure stage and backstage areas are swept, mopped and cleaned before each rehearsal and performance Preset and supervise Stage Crew presets of scenery and props as assigned by Stage Management Keep paperwork up to date by writing down changes to preset lists or run list; ensure Stage Crewupdates paperwork during techs and provide Stage Management staff with updated copy of paperwork Assist with the daily post show clean up Follow all health and safety guidelines established by the theatre; report any unsafe conditions or practices to your supervisor immediately Notify Stage Management and TD of broken scenery or props; repair and maintain scenery and emergency repairs for props during the run of the show Cultivate a collaborative, inclusive, and anti-racist culture by building positive relationships with staffand guest artists, and immediately addressing instances of micro aggressive or harmful language or behavior Desired Experience and Skills Include: Leadership and communication skills Ability to read and understand blueprints Ability able to follow instructions Knowledge of scenic construction techniques and materials Working knowledge of welding, pneumatics, hydraulics, motion control, and rigging Ability take on individual projects and follow them through to completion Ability to lift at least 30 pounds and work from ladders and personnel lifts Ability to work well with a variety of working styles in other staff Ability to stay alert and focused during long periods of inactivity Ability to see in low light situations This position will primarily work in collaboration with the Technical Director, IATSE Scenic Carpenters, Stage Managers, Run Crew, and Director of Production Work Schedule: Primarily evening/weekend Tuesday through Sunday depending on show schedule. During non-tech/performance weeks, Carpenter Shop Hours M-F 8am-4:30pm. Benefits: Three days’ PTO upon completion of an evaluation period. Paid company holidays.
