Mercury Theatre Company Co-Founder and Artistic Director Pierre-Jacques Brault and Co-Founder Brian Marshall fight for the spotlight in La Cage Aux Folles, the beloved gender-bending musical comedy, now through July 22 at Notre Dame College. The twenty year relationship between Georges (Brault), a club-owner, and Albin (Marshall), the head drag performer, faces a test when their son announces his engagement to the daughter of ultra-conservative political parents. To please their son, Georges and Albin agree to hide their lifestyle and play it straight for a dinner with the potential in-laws. Will Albin‘s different definition of “normal” threaten to upend their lives? Sharing a parallel relationship to their onstage characters, real-life couple Brault and Marshall have been theatrical collaborators now for 19 and a half years (but who’s counting!).
